Mother’s Day Movie Marathon

If mom is not into crowded restaurants during the brunch rush and thinks that flowers are overrated—spending some quality time with her at home is always a great option. Why not skip the dressy getup, snuggle up on the couch, and enjoy a good laugh (and maybe shed some tears) with a Mother’s Day movie marathon? Like any good movie marathon, you’ll want to prepare some tasty snacks to share. You can grab something ready-made from your local supermarket, or if you’re more crafty in the kitchen, you can try your hand at some of the recipes listed here: Mother’s Day Recipes.

If you’re not sure what to watch, we comprised a list of perfect Mother’s Day movies for you and mom to enjoy together:

1.) Because I Said So

Daphne Wilder (Diane Keaton) is the proud mother of three women: Milly (Mandy Moore), Maggie (Lauren Graham) and Mae (Piper Perabo), and her love for her offspring knows no bounds. Because her youngest, always chooses the wrong man, she decides to take action to prevent Milly from repeating the mistakes of the past. Dating disaster ensues when Daphne tries to achieve her goal by placing an online personal ad for Milly.

2.)The Guilt Trip

Before embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime road trip, Andy Brewster (Seth Rogen) pays a visit to his overbearing mother, Joyce (Barbra Streisand). That proves to be a big mistake; Andy caves in under pressure to take his mom along for the ride. Early on — as the miles roll by — Andy feels nothing but aggravation at her antics. Eventually however, he comes to realize that they have more in common than he first thought and that Joyce’s wisdom might be just what he needs.

3.) The Kids Are All Right

Lesbian couple Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Annette Bening) have been together for almost 20 years and have two teenage offspring named Joni and Laser, who were conceived via artificial insemination. Unbeknown to their mothers, Joni and Laser seek out their biological father, a restaurateur named Paul (Mark Ruffalo). Complications arise when the teens bond with Paul and invite him into their lives.

4.) Stepmom

Three years after divorcing Jackie (Susan Sarandon), the mother of his children, Luke Harrison (Ed Harris) decides to take the next step with his significantly younger girlfriend, fashion photographer Isabel Kelly (Julia Roberts). But, when the flaky Kelly meets Harrison’s children for the first time, their fierce allegiance to their mother is obvious. Try as she might, Kelly fails to endear herself to her young charges — and to Jackie — until a looming family crisis changes everything.

5.)My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Everyone in the Portokalos family worries about Toula (Nia Vardalos). Still unmarried at 30 years old, she works at Dancing Zorba’s, the Greek restaurant owned by her parents, Gus (Michael Constantine) and Maria (Lainie Kazan). After taking a job at her aunt’s travel agency, she falls in love with Ian Miller (John Corbett), a teacher who is tall, handsome and definitely not Greek. Toula isn’t sure which will be more upsetting to her father, that Ian is a foreigner or that he’s a vegetarian.
