How it works
Pick Klarna at checkout or shop through the Klarna app. Pay in 4 splits the price into four interest-free payments every two weeks. Some stores also offer paying in full later, and larger purchases can be financed monthly.
What it costs
Pay in 4 is interest-free if you pay on time. If a payment is still unpaid about ten days after its due date, Klarna can charge a late fee of up to $7, with total late fees capped at 25% of the order. Financing carries interest, up to about 36% APR depending on credit, with 0% promotions at some stores.
Credit checks and reporting
Pay in 4 uses a soft check that doesn't affect your score. Financing can involve a hard inquiry. Approval for one purchase doesn't guarantee the next.
Good to know
Klarna is one of the biggest names in pay-later, with a shopping app and the Klarna Card.
