4K Gaming – The cooldown is ready

PC Games these days are taking the look very very seriously. Top notch graphic, super immersive, insane level of details. You name it. Even mobile game would spend truckload of cash to convince gamer that “Kill these Creepers and you’ll be to Netflix n Chill hangout with Kate Upton“…

The goodwill of your game-makers can not be well received if you don’t have the gear for the job. A mediocre display system would go a long way towards giving you the subpar gaming experience you didn’t sign up for.

Luckily, the 4K/ UHD revolution has spread into gaming display. We can not guarantee 4 times increase in resolution from a 1080p display will make you 4 times more hated to your opponents, but the fact that you might be able to play Witcher 3 or the Tomb Raider like watching a shampoo commercial is still a pretty good day in front of the screen.

Yea lets be honest, W3’s official screenshot are probably done on some mil-grade rig.

Gaming in 4K is better than you think

The advantage of a 4K display is pretty clear: it has four times number of pixels as 1080p—8.29 million versus 2.07 million. This increased level of detail is theoretically indistinguishable to the human eye once you pass a certain distance from a screen (say, more than three feet away from a 50-inch 4K HDTV). However, a desktop monitor is close enough for you to notice the difference.

4K’s greater resolution can give you a better-looking picture for your games, the ability to edit high-res photos and videos at their native resolutions, and a lot more desktop real estate—the latter particularly ideal for coders looking to pack multiple windows’ worth of content on a giant display.

While 4K content is still in its infancy, there’s no doubt that the media will eventually move that way. In fact, there’s 4K-sized content you can view right now on your desktop PC. More should hopefully be on the way soon, especially if you’re a big Netflix fan.

Minus some glitching here and there, you can play plenty of today and tomorrow’s best games in full 4K resolution so long as you have a beefy system that can output a high-resolution picture at reasonable frame rates. In other words, the content is already there—and if your favorite games aren’t 4K-friendly, we suppose you can always run at the highest resolution you can and just play them in a window while you multitask.

Hairwork is definitely one of 4K’s strength

4K might benefit your work, too. Combine a 30+ inch monitor with 4K resolution and you’ve just given yourself a ton of extra space for multitasking. You also now have the ability to edit high-def photos and videos closer to their native resolutions, depending on what you shoot at.

With great graphic comes great price tag. Price has been a huge turndown for 4K monitor for quite a while now. That’s why we are so excited when we learned about LG’s 27MU67-B, a 27 incher that is moving just under $600. Few months ago monitor with similar specification can easily call for double the price…

Dual Linkup

The Dual Linkup feature allows two compatible portable devices–such as a computer, camera, phone, or Blu-ray player–to be connected to the monitor, and both can be viewed on the same screen simultaneously. Note: To use Dual Linkup, one device must be connected to the DisplayPort while the other is connected to the HDMI port.

Overall

The LG 27MU67-B 27″ Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor is better than most in terms of quality, for its price tag.  The lack of 2.0 HDMI support, and the fact that FreeSync can only run on the 1.2 HDMI port is disappointing.  Nonetheless, this monitor is still a rock solid choice for 4K PC gamers due to it’s still uncommon FreeSync feature and ample gaming-related features.
