Significance of Father’s Day in Our Lives

The significance of Father’s day has been identified throughout the world and today it is celebrated as one of the most important holidays. This day is celebrated especially to honor and acknowledge the contribution of the fathers to the society at large. This day is also observed to instill a sense of respect in the heart of the kids, for their Dads. These delicate sentiments help in more than one ways to strengthen the bond between father and child. The idea for celebrating Father’s Day initially came from Ms Sonora Dodd, a very loving daughter from Spokane. His father had raised her single handedly and five of her other siblings after the death of her mother during child birth. When Senora attended the celebration of the Mother’s Day in 1909, she thought that if there is a day for the Mothers then there should also be a day to honor the Fathers around the world. Sonora tried relentlessly to make Father’s day a recognized concept and finally in 1924, President Calvin Coolidge first recognized Father’s Day.

Since then, the concept of celebrating Father’s day has become popular and it has spread across the world. Millions of children around the world celebrate Father’s day to honor their Dads and show their love to him. Father’s Day is that time of the year when you can express your thankfulness to your Dad for all that he has done for you. You can tell him that you love him for all the unconditional love and affection that he has showered you with.
